Tin Man by Sarah Winman

5.0

I listened to this book in two days and I can only describe the feeling of listening as a small panic attack waiting just below the surface as you gently row across a beautiful pond. Tin Man is such a gorgeous book and Sarah Winman herself narrated it, which feels right because I don't think any other narrator could have captured everything in the way she envisioned.
This book is rough! So beautiful, but it hurts. The characters felt very real and the dialog was amazing. All the relationships were so realistic and painful, yet the ending was sweet somehow. If you're not in the mood to be super sad, don't read this. But it's not overly upsetting. I think I'd compare it to a Keaton Henson or Sufjan Stevens song. I'd like to reread it in physical form at some point to really marinate in the story (or just listen to it again).
