I loved The Bright Sword. Was this book punking me? The pacing was weird, the world building disjointed, the characters insufferable (which I normally like, but there was no… pay off to it?), the plot drowning beneath the surface of random encounters and details. 2.5 stars, rounded up to 3 because I did finish it. Watch me read the second one anyway.
