This has been on my to be read shelf forever, and I’m not sure if it was worth the hyping up. I really liked the historical aspect of this book and the dueling perspectives. Also the setting in London. But that’s where the good things end. The stupidity of the characters at times drove me nuts! Anyone with a brain wouldn’t write down incriminating info but all of these characters do just that And then are surprised when consequences happen!). A lot of the plot rides on dumb decisions made by adults who should definitely know better. And then I’m expected to assume that the same person who explores an abandoned alley at night with a dead phone in a foreign city is the same person applying for acceptance to Cambridge? Or that the same woman dispensing poisons to the desperate women of London thinks it’s a great idea to provide her full name to complete strangers she met the same day simply because she wants to help a woman in need? In a way, it’s a noble cause, but I simply couldn’t get over these major plot holes.
Overall, if you feel like reading an interesting take on a historical event in England, this is your book. But don’t expect full character development or anything
