I enjoyed this book and connected with Ana as the oldest child in a Mexican American family. Besides that, the day to day life and their relationship was kind of borning. I got more invested when the War became a bigger figure at the end of the story. I am actually more excited for the other sisters because it seems like the war will be a bigger plot to the story. Thought this could be because when I do read historicals I mostly read wartime historicals and this is my first step into historical romance.
