You Have Arrived at Your Destination

Though I wasn't fully in love with the story, I loved what the author did with it. In such a short format, they were able to touch on a very interesting topic that can quickly become extremely controversial. IVF is an amazing healthcare service that helps so many couples across the country and globe to overcome their fertility issues and become new parents. We now have technology that helps prevent passing certain diseases and genes from being passed down to our children to help "improve" their quality of life. This story pushes that concept even further and askes what would happen if we had to technology to determine the general outcome of our children's lives and we could choose what type of person we'd want to bring into our family. It then becomes a question of how far is too far when pushing the boundaries of science. What gave me the creeps but also heightened the story was how the IVF facility gave off the feel of a new car dealership. The way the manager was trying to sell the different lives of this person's potential child felt so wrong but also extremely plausible. I wasn't sure what I'd get from this because I've only read A Gentleman in Moscow by this author and that was historical fiction, but this really surprised me and made me even more intrigued to see more from their work as well as the rest of this stories in this collection from the other authors.
