The Plotters by Un-su Kim
3.0

First half of the book felt meandering and slow. Took me a long time to get through. The second half was quite good. I devoured the last seventy-five pages or so in about one sitting.

This was a book that I went into largely blind as part of a book club. I don't know if having known more than "it's about assassins" would have helped me engage with the first part of the book or not, but it felt directionless compared to the slightly more tight pacing in the back part of the book. I think there was one chapter with a flashback within another flashback that had me rolling my eyes a bit.

I'm going to have to revisit this one to unpack how I feel about it. I think I had expectations the book didn't meet, but I'm not sure if my expectations really lined up with what the book wanted to do.
