All the Stars and Teeth
by Adalyn Grace
Actual rating 3.5 stars, rounded up.
Like, okay, there was nothing WRONG with this book, really. I enjoyed it. However, I mainly listen to audiobooks on my hour-long commute to and from work, and this book had me going "Ugh, I don't have the energy" at 6 AM, rather than "Okay, book time! What a great way to start my day!" I ended up only listening to it on the way home each day.
I think my main complaint with this was a lack of chemistry between characters, especially in the romance. I'm not sure if any other readers had this experience, but it felt kind of "meh," and as a person who wants to get wholly attached to characters, I didn't really see that chance with All the Stars and Teeth.
I also think that this book could have been picked up by multiple perspectives. I would have liked to get inside the minds of other characters besides Amora, and there were a couple moments when Amora literally could not go on and her friends saved the day, but it was more of a "fade to black" than a continuation of the high-octane moment because Amora wasn't the person carrying out the action and we were limited to her POV.
All that said, I think the magic system in this book was super unique and, all in all, I enjoyed the storyline.
