#2 in my Austen summer
A chief example of the "ladies walking about and discussing marriage prospects" genre. The characteristic humour and social commentary were present, if a bit weaker than in some other works. The first half was a bit slow and the plot as advertised doesn't truly get started until halfway through. The conclusion was also quite rushed and summarised by the narrator rather than shown as it develops similarly to Lady Susan. Overall charming.
