Daring and the Duke by Sarah MacLean
5.0
THIS. IS. THE BEST! I am shocked that I loved this even more than I loved the previous installments, but this is a perfect culmination and conclusion of the series. Grace and Ewan have been major players in the other books, and I LOVED finally getting their story. I am really impressed with the growth in all of the characters, especially Ewan. I knew he was the hero of this book when I started the series, and I couldn't imagine him being redeemed if not for major efforts. I liked that he did not get off easy. I love how strong Grace is and how he doesn't judge her in any way for her life choices. But probably the thing that I loved the most was how much they were all able to heal and how their beautiful family thrived. I cannot recommend this enough!
Tropes or flags: historical romance; early 30's Queen of Covent Garden meets Duke from their past; NOT a slow burn; second chance romance; teen/first love revisited; she runs a brothel that caters in all ways to women's pleasure; mentions of voyeurism, exhibitionism, role-playing, and other kink, but not explicitly seen or explored with main couple; encounter in a disguise--she wears a mask, acts like she doesn't know him, and doesn't give her name, but he knows it's her; smuggling, thievery, revenge plots, and mentions of violence; discussions of past involving child abuse, neglect, and living on the streets.
Heat rating: HOT—sex scenes throughout with explicit language, which adds to the overall story and relationships.
