I don't read memoirs or very much non-fiction in general. However, I found myself quickly enamoured by Habib's life and lived experiences, her childhood was eye opening and her feelings were raw and unfiltered.
There's something about reading a retelling of someone's life from the person who experienced it. The journey of self-discovery is a large part of the focus in this memoir and it's told in an engaging way.
From start to finish I enjoyed this a lot, i think 2/3 of the book was great, the ending, however, felt rushed and the pacing was quite unsatisfying. Habib makes an effort to slowly unravel her childhood and teenage years, but the entirety of her adulthood is summarized in a few chapters and had large time skips. It made me disconnect from the story as it ended. Regardless it's a great book.
