These Violent Delights

My favorite part of the book is Juliette. I like her cruelty and ruthlessness. In all honesty I think the other characters lack a little something. They’re all in gangs, but for some reason they don’t have the same cut throat behavior. I also think this book is falsely branded as Romeo and Juliet . I only say this because the author doesn’t show Roma and Juliette actually falling in love. Instead we get references to their childhood love than the big reveal that they still love each other. I wanted to see the pining and the forbidden tension and the rendezvous. The plot is just interesting enough for me not to drop it. It’s boring in the beginning and the end. The middle is ok. I absolutely love the description of shanghai, made ugly and beautiful. I don’t think I will read the next book.
