This was the first book to fix my super long reading slump, not to mention, I read it entirely in one sitting.

I'm a HUGE sucker for shifter, soul mate bonded type books. I eat it up. I found this suggestion on reddit and I enjoyed it, but I feel like its missing something for me. I think the angst just wasn't as angsty as I wanted it to be? A lot of this book was spent in both POVs learning one another and rekindling a rejection/miscommunications, but I still felt like there was no real conversations had, and that REALLY stuck out to me. Miscommunication without fixing with *actual* communication. I don't mind the miscommunication trope like some people do, but it needs to be fixed in a satisfying way, and it just wasn't for me.

There were certain plot points that were unique, which is what I always like to see in your more 'typical' shifter/paranormal romances. That was fun. A nick pick of mine was I think the smut could have been a bit more satisfying, I guess. I'm a sucker for a steamy build up in the smut before the boom boom pow.

So, I do like this book, and I'll probably buy it physical to add to my shifter collection I've began growing. I have read better shifter romances, but this wasn't bad by any means. I'm curious to read more of the series.

***Second reread 8/8/2024

ok yes I'm rereading less then a month later don't judge plz.
I'm just in a shifter mood this month and nothing has quite scratched the itch of rejected mates like this series has. I'm gonna bump this one up to 5 stars. I think I was a bit harsher in my first read through because I went through a long reading slump before this and i didn't realize just how difficult it could be to find a satisfying rejected mate book. I appreciate it more now lmao.
