It's hard to imagine reading Raymond Carver and not appreciating it. That said, I am especially glad that I cracked open Carver while living in the state he grew up in: it was an extra-layer of enjoyment to see the now-familiar names of Washington towns and rivers. Favorite stories: Why Don't You Dance?, A Serious Talk.
