✨Another audiobook re-read!✨
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire has come a long way in my list of favorites. For so many years, this (and Chamber of Secrets) were my least favorite. I don’t know what has changed in the many years since I have read it, but it has redeemed itself! I’m going to do this review a bit different and list my favorite and least favorite parts of this book:
Favorites:
-This is the book that transforms Harry. While he was always brave and had a rough life growing up, this is the time when he fully has to struggle with grief and changes as a person.
-The dark aspects of this book set up for what will come next. These moments were gripping and heartbreaking to read/listen to
-Neville’s history! I loved that we finally learn why Neville lives with his grandmother and why he really is a true Gryffindor 😭
-The presence of so many other great characters! Krum, Dobby, Winky, Hermione, Cedric, Seamus, etc.! I just love when they are featured.
-This is the most action-packed book so far. From the very beginning to the very end, things are happening!
-I liked seeing some of the backgrounds of the villains of the story. From reading their upbringings, it makes a lot more sense how they became what they are.
-The emotion! Towards the end, I was actually on the verge of tears! It was really hard to read about what Harry endured after his life has always been so rough. Dumbledore was so touching and fatherly that it got me in my feels a little bit.
Least Favorites:
-I love how there is no mention of Sirius still being on the run. They made it SUCH a point in the last book that no one has ever escaped Akzaban and how he is a serial killer, yadda yadda yadda (mind you, he never got his name cleared). Whereas in this one, nothing! He seems to be forgotten. Even when Molly finally sees him, she is scared of course, but they move right past it!
-Fleur is so annoying to me. Out of all of the students at Beauxbatons, she is chosen to be the best of the best. Well, she kind of sucked. She barely made it through any of the tasks and I don’t think the book ever showed any strength of hers other than her abilities to get boys. Disappointing.
-Harry’s lack of care for the Triwizard Tournament. Each time, he waited until the very last second to prepare! I get that he didn’t care much for wining, but when there’s a chance you will get mangled or killed, you think you would try a bit harder!
-Ron’s jealousy in the beginning annoyed me. Yeah, it’s hard being the sidekick to someone who is always saving the day and whatnot, but like, come on. Use your brain.
-Snape. Enough said.
This was a joy to read.

**I CANNOT WAIT to read Order of the Phoenix
