This was exactly as good as everyone hyped it up to be: a story that at its core sings the praises and the faults in humanity, managing to be so engaging and captivating despite the large cast of characters and narratives. It's spectacularly well written with beautiful language, and it hurts in a delicious way.

(Maybe just don't read it as a pandemic is happening IRL right now, because i know i wasn't particularly stable enough mentally to have gone through a story about societal collapse, but hope stays thriving even at the darkest hour).
