My only cons were that the exposition felt a little clunky and overdone to me (my recurring thought was, “we get it, it’s 1974”) and there were times when I was really thrown off by the pacing. Otherwise, such a compelling novel that does an excellent job at world-building and drawing you into its characters. This was a perfect snowy weekend read and I was gripped the whole way, pleading that the characters would find better, somehow, someway. I particularly enjoyed how Hannah explored the theme of unwavering community support. That aspect felt like an exemplary and timely story for me to read.
