Scarlet by Marissa Meyer
5.0
This was the book that really made the difference for me between an avarage story and an incredible adventure.
I loved Cinder but it was just a little safe for me. It introduced this unbelievable world connecting old favourites, fairytales and the innovation of Science Fiction. But.. It lacked the WOW factor.
Reading Scarlet, however, was a positive disappointment. It provided everything Cinder had and more.
So imagine the Red Riding Hood, pick the smallest pieces of the stroy and have something brand new created from it. A redhead starts to search for her missing grandma with the help of a stranger, Wolf, who seems to know and be more than he tells.
This book has the elements of mistery and deception which makes it exciting and not at all predictible! Scarlet and Wolf's realtionship builds slowly (or maybe not) and is intense and lovable! I love the way Scarlet's temper matches Wolf's strength and they kind of complete each other and form a great team.
The other great thing that makes the book stand out is the multiple point of views. We can follow Scarlet's story while still knowing what's happening to Cinder and the global story builds further.
We have a new character, Thorne who's the Captain of the Rampion and Cinder's partner in crime! He's funny and brings the perfect amount of handsomeness to the story!
I loved that we see the girls' perspective almost all the way through the book but when things start to clear out we get a Wolf POV and get to know his thoughts also.
Scarlet raised the standard of this series and I love it so much!
If you loved Cinder than it's a must!
For fans of YA and science-fiction!
