I have lived under a rock and have not bothered much with American pop culture so plenty of these were eye opening for me. I'm not being sarcastic, I literally didn't bother with American culture because I'm not American. But now that I live here, I am ready to learn!

I think Tolentino's writing is scrumptious. I wish I could string together paragraphs like she does. They make me feel like I'm not smart at all lol. Much of her essays were factual. I loved her The I in Internet - the subject though much discussed deserves be continue being talked about today. Her essay about her stint with reality TV show was good, a lot of the ideas there are still relevant. The 7 Scams of a generation was brilliant, though i know the complaint is that these aren't necessarily new nor groundbreaking, but for my who's lived under a rock, it was brilliant. Linking religion and drug-taking was...interesting. Though I appreciate the commentary about religion from someone who's been there done that.

The last one, "I Thee Dread", was probably the worst one, as it basically just spews facts about the wedding industry which we all know is a scam anyway, so the whole point of the article was what? Simply that she personally doesn't want to be married, and the wedding industry has very little to do with her decision. If she was talking about why she doesn't want to get married, why talk about the wedding industry? They are 2 non-exclusive things. And so the whole essay seemed to have a dissatisfying conclusion.
