Mostly Harmless by Douglas Adams
2.0
Definitely the darkest of all the Hitchhiker books. Adams immediately lets go of the Fenchurch character, who I felt had at least a semblance of a personality and worked well with Arthur. But you learn to not hold on to narrative devices with Adams as he moves willy-nilly through his universe with reckless abandon. I had to read all the books all at once because they are in one compendium and thats how my OCD works but in retrospect I probably wouldn't do it again. On to Hawthorne!
