I want to give it a higher rating so badly because of how much i enjoyed going through this book. But, this is my intro to Toni Morrison and i wanted to read her other works before i make a final rating on Sula.

This was one hell of an event, it's rare you get a book that covers so much in under 200 pages and yet somehow all of the topics get equal amount of "respect" in their presentation, not just a shallow mention in passing or half-assedly shoved just to cross some boxes on a check list. One thing that shocked me about Toni Morrison's beautiful and on point writing is how she wrote devastating or disturbing (or both) events in such a casual manner, like they are things that happen because they happen. It made me do so many double takes (or reads idk) because did i just seriously just read all that in one paragraph?

I also love how the things came around towards the end, it satisfies a part of my brain that likes seeing past unexplained happenings brought up, not necessarily to be answered, but just as like a little acknowledgement of "yes this thing did happen."

Excited to read more from Toni Morrison!
