Even though the genres include sci-fi and horror, there isn’t a trace (unless you count the detailed autopsies, and some mobster/mafia violence), there is no Jack or Stapleton or Jack Stapleton, even though he is in the name of the series, he has yet to emerge or even be mentioned, maybe in book 2? It’s still a good book, but I feel a bit mislead. Where are my zombies or soul transfers (that’s where my mind went to with the eyes donated, the ophthalmologist, and the guy who needed corneal transplants).
It’s not at all my genre, so I wouldn’t have chosen or read knowing this, but I thoroughly enjoyed it anyways, so much that I’m going to read the next book. I’m extremely curious about this Jack person and if maybe, just maybe, there’s some sci-fi. I won’t hold my breath, I’ll just enjoy it for what it is.
