This is the first in a series of novellas. It is setting up the scene and the characters and that took up most the novella. I liked those elements, but I think reading the series as a whole would work better for me. That being said, I am invested in the romantic storyline and curious about the supernatural elements, so I'll be reading the rest of the series soon.
