It's a nice little peek into what Will was going through in season 1 while he was in the other world. However, this takes some of the tension out of the book, because we know how it will end. It's just a series of events happening one after another, without much of a compelling plot. I suppose I did like seeing Will's DnD character. 

I read this in a foreign language thought, and a lot of the negatives I've listed were positives to making a simplistic familiar story that is easy to understand.
