The Proposal by Piper Scott

2.0

Watch me regularly complain about this book because it makes me want to strangle something, but the joke's on me because I've read it 3 times at this point RIP

(seriously, I have no idea why this series has its claws in me as deep as it does. It's a problem)

This one felt too absurd for me. I get that Gage was/is young and made a bad decision out of misguided loyalty but.... I wanted to constantly strange him was pretty much shaking my head the entire time while reading. Still not a bad read, the devotion and love between Gage and Aaron was very sweet (though the whole "I kept the fact that we have a child together a secret from you for 4 years because I didn't want to ruin your career" is a huge red flag, especially with the entire supportive and healthy family surrounding both parents.)
I did appreciate the worry and support the surrounding characters felt for the main couple. The red flags were acknowledged by them, if not by the protagonists themselves.

Content warnings include: sex on-page, sex work/camming, one parent not telling the other about the child they have, chronically ill toddler, pulmonary fibrosis, TONS of miscommunication, plans for committing insurance fraud.
