Love & Other Carnivorous Plants by Florence Gonsalves

4.0

This is a fast read about a witty teen riding an emotional roller coaster with wit, bouts of binge drinking, and fat shaming. The writer has a way of making you laugh but in an uncomfortably so, which makes the experience feel genuine. Freshman year of college can be uncomfortable - we are finding ourselves and it's hard to find a way to communicate that with our closest friends and parents, as Danny finds in this book.

A lot of drama and colorful characters. The plot moves. Sexual identity is explored. Definitely a book for your older, more mature 9-12th grade audience.
