The Deepest Fake is truly a thriller of the times. And the implications are terrifying.
Thank you to Simon & Schuster Canada for my gifted copy of Daniel Kalla's newest for review.
I grew up reading medical thrillers (thanks, Mom) and love that Kalla has honed the genre with current issues.
Liam is a husband and father, also the CEO of an AI company. He starts experiencing unsettling neurological symptoms, which yield a diagnosis of ALS.
While investigating medically-assisted dying, he discovers some of his diagnostics don't add up. Are his symptoms being manipulated by something other than his body?
Enter private investigator Andrea DeWalt. She originally discovered Liam's wife's infidelity, and is now one of the only people he can trust.
I loved this one. The writing and storytelling is tight, the pacing feels just right, the characters on point. (I would love to see Andrea in another story someday!)
Recommended! And if you haven't read Kalla's previous books, I also highly recommend his backlist.
For release in one week, July 29.
