I really appreciate how "first year of college" this book feels. It's a relatively simple writing style but not a simple story. I do think this was mismarketed as a romance instead of a coming-of-age, which matters insofar as
it's also a narrative of understanding and moving beyond trauma and sexual assault
. I also know it holds a special place in my heart for what it is.
