・❥・ ❝Promise me you’ll stop running and let someone in.❞
A sweet rom-com that discusses grief, learning how to live and letting yourself fall again with and without fear. Surprisingly, pretty much all the books I’ve been reading recently discuss grief — this is purely coincidental but I’ve been surprised by how different each discussion has been. ♡ Each books tells a different story. This particular story here had an element of shyness and vulnerability, of learning yourself whilst struggling with love and life.🤍 New beginnings and found family. This book also discusses asexuality and speech impediments as well as workplace harassment — the first two I don’t encounter in fiction often so it was refreshing to read about.
Lark and Callum were sweet. They had their wholesome moments and they had their spicier ones. Callum specifically was a delighttt to read about! As this is dual pov, his pov chapters were a breath of fresh air, his inner thoughts were quite entertaining sometimes. 🤭 I enjoyed Lark’s chapters, however they felt a bit repetitive as story went on.
・❥・ ❝We would cherish the light and honor the darkness, together.❞
As an overall observation, whilst reading this book, during certain parts of this nothing was really happening. 😫 Settling on a rating was confusing as parts of this book I loveddd and others I enjoyed less. So a rating somewhere in the middle felt appropriate.
I did enjoy the secondary characters. I know the second book in this series of interconnected standalones is about two characters we meet here — it already sounds amazing and you’re telling me it’s second chance?? The drama and the angst! 😌
I would recommend this book! Some really good messages overall and definitely good found family/network vibes. 🤍
