Chimera by Mira Grant

5.0

I just... Well... Fuck that was amazing!

I'm not really sure where to start. Everything from the premise of "genetically modified for medical and health use tapeworms" to the inclusiveness of the characters. One of the "villains" (and I air quote that because he didn't think of himself as a villain) is a bisexual chimera (human-tapeworm hybrid) and he claims he is bisexual because he had no gender as a tapeworm so there's no reason to limit himself as a human.

I absolutely adored the use of a children's book as an almost holy book throughout the series. "Don't Go Out Alone" by Simone Kimberley does not exist in the real world, but I need Mira Grant to create this book in its entirety (preferably with illustrations, but without is fine, too) and get that published for us. It will be incredible, I'm sure!

The broken doors are hidden in the blood and in the bone.
My darling child, be careful now, and don’t go out alone.
