Garis Batas: Perjalanan di Negeri-Negeri Asia Tengah by Agustinus Wibowo

adventurous emotional informative reflective slow-paced

4.5

This is a travel memoir of Agustinus Wibowo about his travels across Central Asian countries. Countries that end with -stan in their names and seemed mysterious to him. In this book he reflects a lot on how "borders" define people and put us in boxes - sometimes unnecessarily. It also made him think about his status as a minority in Indonesia. This is a very good book. I enjoyed reading it and knowing about different parts of Central Asia. I do wish that there are pictures inside, though, because Agustinus is a photographer as well. Sometimes I had to google pictures of these places so I can visualize them better in my head. However he does have the pictures on his blog
