Carve the Mark by Veronica Roth
4.0

It took me for-ev-er to finish this book, but I actually liked it. It's a bit problematic in its descriptions of the various races of the various planets. It's reminiscent of Star Wars and, as far as everyone having a different "currentgift," it's also a bit like X-Men. I've read that some people who live with chronic pain have issues with the depiction of Cyra, and I respect that. But it passes the most important test as far as literature goes: It made me care about Cyra and Akos. I will read the second book in the duology, because I need to find out if Akos can complete his mission of getting Eijeh back, mentally as well as physically. And I also want to know if Cisi and Isae will get married and live happily ever after.
