The Last Juror by John Grisham
3.0

I always like to listen to John Grisham books, rather than read them. This book was fairly predictable for me, but it didn't seem like the author's main focus was to stump the reader, though I'm sure some were. It seemed more like a story about a young man fresh out of college who didn't know what real relationship was like until he somehow landed in Clanton. I appreciated the point of view of the main character. He was an outsider to the town, and so he could note the ridiculousness of the drama and gossip, and yet still maintain a fondness for people who included him in their small town life and even in their family.

I liked the pace of the plot, and the history it touched on. I also enjoyed Grishams portrayal of southern religious "folk"...he hit the nail on the head with their religious talk and customs, perhaps with tongue in cheek, but also showing an endearing side to them.

I feel like I was immersed in small town life, and I am anxious to shake it off and move on to another book.
