I was just getting back into reading when I picked up this book, tons of recommendations from friends, family and obviously tiktok. I went into it with an open mind.

now this isn't the worst book I've ever read, but it definitely wasn't for me. the letters written by the FMC to Ellen Degeneres were so cringy that I started skimming over them. I get that some people like to write in journals (me being one of them) but to write them, in letter format, to a celebrity you'll never meet or send them off too (and even if you did, wouldn't ever read them) is just about one of the most cringy things ever.

I will say the pattern of abuse and rekindling is very realistic and hit home for me, many people have a very hard time leaving an abusive situation and I applaud lily for being able to eventually separate herself
(and her child)
from the ever revolving cycle.

I'm glad lily got a happy ending but I have not read the second book so I don't know if it sticks.
