As many others have said here, this book was a heart stopping, anxiety provoking and unfortunately heartbreaking tale. Without spoilers this book went from what I genuinely believed was an obvious thriller troped story that managed to subvert this.
The writing is gripping and the characters you follow are done so well that you are feeling their every thought and emotion hoping things will turn out ok. Yes there are mild plot holes that I did think about but I’ll put them aside as the overall plot and story made me forget about them instead of them lingering in my mind.
I didn’t expect this to be as good as it was and I’d rate it somewhat higher but MILD spoiler — the ending was too bleak and realistic to make me give it anything above a 4.25 and that’s purely because often I’m a sucker for somewhat happy or optimistic endings. Otherwise this is a solid read.
Also if I have kids, I’ll make sure they read this as a warning to how stranger danger and internet nutters are real!
