The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater

5.0

Just--oh my god. I bought the Raven Cycle books because everyone raves about them, and I like to trust that my friends have good taste in books. I did not expect what I got. Simply amazing.

From the fan art and synopsis I expected some slightly twisted love story, and about 30 pages in I still assumed that was where the book was going. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that it was much deeper. The mystery, the magic, the supernatural elements that you don't expect to pop up, they all caught me off guard. I found myself reading well past my bedtime, only to dream about the characters for the hours that followed. I'm eager to start the second book in the series, but with this one I feel like I need a break between them to gather my thoughts and process what I've just finished. It's overwhelming, and it's been a long time since I've read a book that hit me the way this one did.

Good job Raven Boys, good job.
