Loveable characters: No
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: No

First half of the book was rough. Writing feels stilited and awkward - definitely feels like an older fantasy book. Characters profess friendship immediately upon meeting and just generally don't act how we would expect people to act.

By the second half the pace picks up, and the awkwardness fades to the background a bit, but is definitely still present.

An entertaining enough read, but this was my fourth attempt to get through it, and I only succeeded because I didn't have anything else to read
