Amber has been a little bit of a nomad for the past six months in an attempt to find herself. To figure out what she wants to do with her life, what her passion is. While looking for a job to make enough money to go home, she encounters an opportunity to teach twins English. It all seems like a good plan. Teach English, make some money, then go back home (though she isn’t really looking forward to going back). But when she meets the twins older brother Derio, she is immediately intrigued.

29 year old Derio was a big time motorcycle racer, who quit at the height of his career, in order to be a guardian to his younger twin siblings after their parents pass away. Derio is a swoon worthy sexy Italian man with some baggage. He may be sexy, but he is also stubborn, and opinionated. Amber is pretty stubborn herself. And she is not afraid of challenges. So it’s natural for Amber to fall for him. He frustrates her, but she is determined to find out more about this brooding Italian.

It might be expected that these two get together eventually, but what wasn’t so obvious was that I would fall in love with these characters almost from the start. Amber is very easy to connect/relate to. It isn’t easy trying to figure what in the world you want to do and I admired that fact that she traveled and tried to find that out.

I can honestly say that Racing the Sun is my top favorite romantic read of the summer. Karina Halle definitely knows how to write a good story. It was easy to get into, the writing flowed, the pace was well done, and the characters had both a depth and realistic quality to them. I loved it. My only big issue was after I finished reading it, I wanted to visit Italy and get my own Italian Stallion.
