Not really horror in the traditional sense. But paranormal historical fiction. the horrors were the things from real life more than any of the supernatural elements (with small exceptions).
This book was intense and heartbreaking. It is terrifying to know how recent this setting was and how much of this still goes on.  How these same fights are still happening. 

I needed that hopeful ending so much.

Also i did a couple chapters as audio, and the narrator did a wonderful job.
