tufriel 's review for:
Night Music
by John Connolly
I enjoyed Nocturnes and have similarly enjoyed Nocturnes 2, in particular the novellas - The Caxton Private Lending Library & Book Depository (although Rowling and the other authors are still around, with the popularity of the Harry Potter series, would these characters be living at library? And unfortunately, horror of horrors, would the Twilight and 50 Shades of Grey characters also be there? I can't imagine how the denizens of the 'classics' would take to sharing the library with the new generation) and especially The Fractured Atlas which alluded to the power within the pages of books. I feel slightly ashamed at having so blissfully ignored the power of books and passed them over as mere entertainment but I have begun looking slightly askance at the books lining my shelves now. What universe hides within these pages?
Some of the stories gave me the shivers although some I couldn't truly grasp (e.g. not having watched Dr Who). And I also appreciated the insight into the author's own inspirations and beginnings in this genre. This book will stay on my shelf for re-visits in future.
