Missed potential

The idea of information being able to physically alter the laerner is not new but is ripe for horror, this missed the mark for me. It felt like Clarke's Childhood's End mixed with a little Junji Ito body horror, Babel 17 or Pontypool, and some LGBT rep. How could it fail, right? I just never really got a sense of dread or horror. If anything, it felt more like an allegory for teen angst/loneliness and radicalization which failed to engage me.
