To Sleep in a Sea of Stars
by Christopher Paolini
Holy shit I can't believe I finished this.
It's definitely way too long. I can't count how many times I had to read about the main character going to sleep. She was also quite frustrating and honestly a detriment to the narrative. She made several thoughtless mistakes PLUS rather than allowing us to get to know the supporting cast, she would corner and interrogate them about their past. There were two characters in the supporting cast that were explicitly not of American culture, though only one constantly threw around Korean words that really weren't necessary. By this behavior, one other may be Hispanic because she uses the word chica sometimes.
Overall I'm disappointed with this book, especially the characters. It makes me worried about rereading Eragon after 15 years or so.
