This is the first fiction book I've read about human trafficking. It definitely highlights the horrors and truths behind the ongoing issue. Told through a survivors eyes, this story is nothing short of a horror novel. The scenes played out are graphic and disturbing. The truth behind it all is prominent and I believe the author did an outstanding job at bringing attention to this.
I really enjoyed the way the novel was written, as it jumped between the plot of the story and the present day. Constructed in a way that was easy to follow.
The one quote that hit me hard was "I think trauma doesn't drop even after you've been rescued"
This quote is so important to understanding how to assist and aid survivors of trafficking and realizing that recovery is still difficult.
A very good read. Looking forward to reading the next ones in the series.
