The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood

4.0

Thoroughly enjoyed this book, for the rich and terrifying world of oppression, injustice and inequality Atwood has created. Women are basically “two legged wombs” and their only purpose is to forcibly give birth to children.

The book is filled with interesting characters, and I really liked the narrator and how she was telling the story. Her mind was an interesting place and the author did a great job of showing us her thoughts, her depression, anxiety, often her delirious state of mind; someone who is struggling with the new version of her old world.

I did find the pacing a bit off in some sections, and something the narration style changed, but that really didn’t take away from my enjoyment of the book.
