I didn't really enjoy this book as much as the other earlier volumes. I felt that I couldn't connect to the story nor characters as much. It seemed a little disconnected to the earlier volumes and I questioned whether the story in this volume was necessary for the overarching story—I don't think the characters will resurface in subsequent volumes nor did I find it necessary to have a whole volume on just the traps and defences of Nazarick (even if it were important in the later stories, it could have been elaborated then). Overall, I felt that this seemed to be a filler story than actually building the overarching story.
