Diary of a Misfit by Casey Parks
3.0

The author’s writing is sharp, personal, and compelling. Her story is detailed in a very familiar way that hooks you from the beginning. However, it is a classic case of a 350-page book that could easily be a wonderful 200. I was also a bit disappointed to see that the focus was overwhelmingly on the author’s story and not really Roy’s - not only was it not what I had expected, but at times it felt a bit…self-indulgent? I didn’t leave feeling like I new much more about the supposed star of the book than I did in the first 100 pages.
