When a book receives so much attention and positive response, I’m often suspicious. Lessons in Chemistry deserves every bit of praise it receives. It is thoughtful, clever, but also funny in places and truly feels as though it has been written from the heart. There are dark moments but the way the book tackles them feels respectful and important to the story rather than thrown in to tick a box. I adore Elizabeth Zott. She isn’t perfect but she is herself and that is the best thing in a character. This book was an enjoyable read right the way through and I would recommend it to absolutely everyone, regardless of the genre of book you normally read.
