A Minor Chorus by Billy-Ray Belcourt

4.0

Here's a myth: two men, joined at the crotch, moaning in a town neither called home.
I was a fan of Belcourt's short story collection and this lil novel didn't disappoint. The protagonist ditches his PhD in search of a novel. For this, he revisits his past and re-connects with family and friends on his rez in Alberta. What permeates this novel is pity, regret and longing. Belcourt weaves poetic sentences and infuses each word with need. Intersectionality at its best. Cyclical. Loved. Messy in points, therefore not quite 5 stars.
