The Prison Healer by Lynette Noni

5.0

When I first decided to buy the book, I'd barely heard of it before and wasn't sure whether I'd actually like it. Nevertheless, I went ahead and bought the hardcover and a ticket to the launch of book 2, which included a signed bookplate.

However, as soon as I began reading I was hooked, and even though I don't often stay up late reading (shocking, I know), this book had me half crying, half fearing for the characters in the middle of the night and the next day I was sleep deprived and couldn't concentrate on my work because all that I could think about was the book. I was so excited for the the MC (Kiva) to get together with a second character, but the slowburn romance had me instantly buying book two, which was equally amazing.

Every step of the way, there was something new that couldn't possibly have predicted, AND THAT ENDING!! I mean, IYKYK. That literally had me sobbing even though I've never cried because of a book before. And what's more, The Gulded Cage was even better than The Prisln Healer, so I have high hopes for The Blood Traitor (book 3)!

I couldn't recommend this book enough, but it might be better for anyone who is interested in reading it to wait until the release of book 3 (June 2022) because both books end with gut-wrenching cliffhangers, and now I'm not sure if I regret not waiting or not. That ending left me feeling dead inside, and I NEED book 3 ASAP!
