Drums of Autumn by Diana Gabaldon
2.5

This part of the series - this book - felt like a little bit of a slog.  It's a little longer than some of the other books I already read, but I also felt like the story was harder to get into.
The location and time skips around a lot, from Scotland to the U.S., but also from the 1960s and the 1760.  The narrator is still looking from Claire's perspective, but sometimes we're centered on Brianna or Roger and even - I think? - Jamie and Ian.  It's also weird to read because I didn't know much about Scottish / British / French diplomacy in the 1760s, but I know more about what was going on in the colonies in the 1760s.  I know what's coming and Gabaldon has referred to issues, so I guess we'll just wait and see.

Reading this book felt a lot like how the Anne of Green Gables series kind of de-centers on Anne and Gilbert and switches to focusing more on her kids and eventually Rilla.  I didn't really like the Green Gables series after Anne and Gilbert weren't a big part of a narrative; I hope that's not the future of this series... or that I like Brianna better than Rilla.
