I can't tell if the fact that the society is the exact same is purposefully done or not. If it is, I think it's a great example of how power remains corrupted. It's ironic, in a way, because the castes have not changed at all. I enjoyed the character development a lot, but the plot was a bit slow. I think Darrow should've found out the kidnapping way sooner, and that would've made him choose to continue the war or rescue his kid. Would've been interesting. I liked how the narrations came together.
